CaliforniaFIRST allows you to receive upfront funding for energy efficiency, renewable energy and water efficiency improvements for your home or business
Other Types of Financing
There are many other ways to finance a solar project. Some people use their Home Equity Line of Credit or take out a home improvement second mortgage (nice way for an additional tax write off), some have a credit card with a high limit and low interest, some like to put some cash down and finance the rest. Here are a few more financing options at www.energy.gov.
mPOWER is a regional program for residents and business owners of Placer County and the City of Folsom which promotes more efficient use of water and energy. This program enables property owners to reduce energy costs and strengthen our local economy through job creation. mPower will finance energy efficiency improvements and energy generation systems such as Solar PV and Solar Thermal to qualified property owners with no up-front costs.
The financing model called Property Assessed Clean Energy Act (PACE). The financed amount is limited to the amount of equity in your house and is amortized over a 5, 10, 15 or 20 year time period. The amount due is added to your property tax bill semi-annually until paid in full. If the property is sold the equipment stays with the property and the seller has the choice of either paying the debt off upon sale or transferring it with the property.
